I'm not sure who's having more fun with this - me or my son...
I've seen ads for this in our Sunday flyers and pop ups when I'm looking for Thomas the train toys. It's hard to be creative with thomas toys tracks, trains, tracks, trains. I've tried the tub toys. Boring. I've tried the other character items but this one is the cats meow.
I like
It's a Thomas toy - automatically gets my son's attention. What keeps his attention? He loves shining the light and Thomas follows. It's like using a laser pointer and having a cat follow. Endless entertainment.
You point and thomas goes. It can be behind the train he will spin around and go. He zips, he zags, he spins and goes. It's crazy.
Only thing I didn't like about it. The price tag. I know that this will probably go down in price for Christmas but I didn't want to wait to get it.
UPDATE:
It's been a month since we've had this and he still loves it. It's actually more fun in dim lighting or the dark (maybe b/c it was Halloween and it seemed "spookier"). It's super entertaining (the prices have since dropped but it's ok, my kid loves it, therefore I love it, and I'm glad we gave it to him a month early for his birthday). What I wish - they made one for kids, Mommy points the light and baby follows...ah...someday. For now, this will suffice.
PPS: We have berber carpets and this thing runs smoothly and quickly (like it's on a wooden floor).
I was hoping this toy would be a quality purchase and it turns out it was! At my grandson's birthday party EVERYONE enjoyed playing with Thomas the Train. From the kids to the adults (me included). The train follows the light, turns in circles, and even runs on carpet. That surprised me. Some batteries included, just buy AA for the light. I think I'll have to buy one for my other two grandkids. And me!
