I bought this as a whim for my 3-year old. It's spectacular. It's four separate puzzles in one box and each puzzle has a shape on the backside to help him determine how to first sort the four puzzles before putting them together. Not only has he learned to put together the pieces, but's it's also been a great teacher of what a diamond, circle, triangle and square look like. He's gotten it down so well, that daily he gets out the box and now completes all four puzzles himself! He loves the fact that they are a boat, train, tractor and airplane ! Perfect for a little guy!
I basically agree with the other reviewers. This is great for young children, and a perfect first jigsaw puzzle. Our son was 27 months when I took it out, and now at 28 months he also does 48 piece puzzles- with some guidance, though he still loves these. It has been great for teaching sorting and shapes. Each vehicle has a different shape on the back (circle, square, triangle, diamond)- which is a great way to help sort the 4 puzzles. Now at 28 months we've moved on to the 48 piece puzzles (this is 4- 12 piece puzzles). The pieces are thick and durable. I am so happy I bought this
