Our 3 year old received this train (which he calls a 'monorail') for Christmas. Out of all this other presents including other Thomas trains, a bike, and a gazillion other things, he has played with this the most. Amazing.
The color of our train was more orange the the picture but that was ok with us. If you're looking for a 'red' train, this isn't it. The train is connected by these sturdy hooks. Once you put them together, I don't think you should pull them apart- it might break that plastic that connects the train cars. Unlike one other reviewer, our train runs really well on our wooden tracks. We have a kidkraft and imaginarium tracks.
Even though these trains are more expensive than the Thomas, Imaginarium, or KidKraft, we'll probably buy few more since theyre so cool looking.
My son loves this zippy little modern train. It is a great orange color. The older version of Plan Toys trains had magnets and they stayed together well. But the new run of trains (for 2010) are held together with clips. These keep the whole train intact. We like having a mix of both.
